Medicare Coverage by Connecticut County
Medicare plan availability, provider networks, and pricing shift from county to county. Here's what we see most often across Connecticut — and we compare live options for Middlesex, Tolland, and every other county too.
Hartford County
Strong Medicare Advantage competition with access to the Hartford HealthCare and Trinity Health networks. Multiple carriers offer $0-premium plans with comprehensive benefits.
Fairfield County
Beneficiaries here often face IRMAA surcharges due to higher incomes. The Yale New Haven Health System provides extensive network coverage, and Medigap plans are popular with residents who travel.
New Haven County
Home to the nationally-ranked Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven County offers excellent Medicare coverage options, and Medicare Savings Programs help lower-income seniors in urban areas.

Your Medicare Questions,
Answered
Get clear, straightforward answers to common questions about Medicare coverage in Connecticut, our services, and how we can help you enroll.
Your Initial Enrollment Period is the 7-month window around your 65th birthday (3 months before, the month of, and 3 months after). Enrolling late can result in permanent premium penalties. Call us before your window opens so we can walk you through your options.
Medicare Advantage (Part C) bundles your hospital, medical, and often drug coverage into one plan through a private insurer, often with a $0 premium and extra benefits like dental and vision. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) pairs with Original Medicare to cover the coinsurance and deductibles Parts A and B leave behind, and lets you see any doctor who accepts Medicare nationwide — but it doesn't include drug coverage, so you'll need a separate Part D plan.
Missing your Initial Enrollment Period can trigger a Part B late enrollment penalty of 10% for every 12-month period you were eligible but not enrolled — and that penalty is added to your premium for life. Going without creditable drug coverage adds a separate, permanent Part D penalty too, roughly 1% of the national base premium for every month you waited.
Your 6-month Medigap guaranteed-issue period, which starts when you're 65 and enrolled in Part B, is your one guaranteed window to buy any Medigap plan without being denied or charged more for your health. After that window closes, insurers in Connecticut can medically underwrite you, so switching later isn't guaranteed.
Yes — we help Medicare beneficiaries throughout Hartford, New Haven, Fairfield, Middlesex, and Tolland counties, and every city and town in Connecticut. Plan networks and pricing vary by county, so we compare what's actually available where you live.
Our services are completely free to you. We're compensated by the insurance carriers when you enroll in a plan, so you pay the same premium whether you work with us or go directly to the carrier — often less, because we compare options on your behalf.
